GM has issued a recall for 22,000 Corvettes sold between 2005 and 2007 for possible roof failure. How exactly does a roof fail? Well if its job is to keep the wind, rain and other weather out of the car, it fails by blowing off at high speeds. Apparently there is a danger of that happening on Corvette coupe models sold between 2005 and 2007. Chevy’s high-performance 2006 and 2007 Z06 models are also included in the recall.
Chevrolet has already recalled the Corvette’s roof once, according to Motor Authority. The previous fix was to use a new foam adhesive, but apparently that isn’t enough and Vettes are still blowing their tops. Now Chevrolet is recalling those same Corvettes again and replacing the entire roof panel.
The recall includes many Corvettes that were already fixed once under the previous recall, as well as some that were manufactured after the problem was found. Chevrolet dealers will install a new roof panel for customers affected by the recall.
