Toyota has announced that its Woodstock, Ontario plant is now working overtime. Toyota’s Ontario manufacturing facility has added shifts to match the demand for RAV4s, which is up from last year. The RAV4 plant’s production bump means that every Toyota factory in North America is currently running overtime.
Toyota says that 800 new workers will be hired soon at the Ontario RAV4 plant, which the company expects will be running at full capacity by April 1. In the first 10 months of 2009, Toyota sold 132,346 RAV4s, up three percent compared to 2008, according to Left Lane News.
All of Toyota’s other North American plants are already running overtime, thanks to increased demand across the board. The popular Toyota Corolla and Lexus RX are both selling very well. As a result of GM’s recent financial troubles, the NUMMI plant will be closed soon and production will be moved to a facility in Mississippi, which has not been opened yet.
