Now this is what I call trying to hide your efforts. Apparently, rumors have been going around that a new Viper has been lapping the famed Nurburgring racetrack at an astonishing pace. The car has a very different nose and is quite radical sounding.
Well now the gig is up. The car you see in these pictures is not a new Viper, but rather, it’s a highly disguised Mercedes-Benz supercar! Yup, the boys at AMG have apparently taken the development of the SLR’s successor in-house and partnered with a company called HWA, which is a racing company established by Hans Werner Aufrecht, one of the founding partners in AMG. The partnership with McLaren hasn’t given Mercedes the world-beating flagship they had hoped for. The SLR is a fantastic car in it’s own right, but it falls a bit short when compared to it’s closest rivals.
Power is rumored to come from a twin-turbo V8 with at least 700hp. That’s a lot of ponies, but then again this is gonna be a lot of car. It’s a big automobile with an imposing size. In fact, the Viper body has been widened and stretched just to accommodate the beast.
Rumor has it the car will be called the AMG SLC. Whatever they call it, we know at least that it will be one hell of a ride! Should be a stunner when it comes out, probably around 2010. For now though, here are some spy shots…
Above: Man, the new Viper is ugly! Wait a minute, thats not a Viper….
