The affected models are the 2016–2022 Honda Pilot, 2017–2023 Honda Ridgeline, 2019–2023 Honda Passport, and 2014–2020 Acura MDX. The big catch is geography: the recall is focused on vehicles sold or registered in 23 salt-belt states plus Washington, D.C., where road salt speeds up corrosion. So if you’re looking at one of these in places like New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, or Massachusetts, this should be on your must-check list right next to accident history and maintenance records.

What makes this especially important is that these are exactly the kinds of vehicles people buy as “safe bets.” A Pilot is the default family recommendation for many shoppers. A Ridgeline is the truck for people who swear they don’t need a truck until they do. A used MDX still looks like a lot of luxury for the money.
