The big news about the 2026 GMC Sierra EV lineup expansion is that GMC finally gave this truck a version that looks like an actual purchase decision rather than a rolling tax write-off. The new Elevation starts at $64,495, including destination, which is roughly $28,000 cheaper than the Sierra EV’s previous starting price, according to Car and Driver’s pricing coverage. That matters because an electric pickup does not need to start in luxury-trim fantasy land to be useful.
The trim most people should price first is still the Elevation, not the off-road eye candy. GMC says the Elevation comes standard with 283 miles of range, offers up to 410 miles with the available Extended Range battery, and still brings the big-screen cabin, eTrunk, and available 300-kW fast charging that shoppers actually notice on a spec sheet and in daily use. The new AT4 is cool in the very expensive way trucks often are, with 35-inch all-terrain tires, 2 extra inches of ground clearance, standard 4-Wheel Steer with CrabWalk, and up to 478 miles of GM-estimated range with the Max Range battery. Very fun. Also very easy to overspend on if your real off-road life is mostly a gravel driveway and one ambitious camping weekend.
The more interesting part is where this puts GMC in the EV truck pecking order. Chevrolet’s official 2026 Silverado EV page shows the related truck starting at $55,895 for the Custom, $69,100 for the LT, and $70,000 for the Trail Boss. That means the Sierra EV Elevation is no longer wildly out of bounds for someone cross-shopping GM’s two electric pickups. It is still expensive, because all electric trucks still ask for mortgage-adjacent money, but the Sierra now at least lands in the same conversation instead of hovering above it wearing a Denali nametag and pretending price is rude.
If you are seriously shopping for one, start with the Elevation and budget for the battery you actually need before you get distracted by AT4 theater. Buyers who really tow, drive long stretches of highway, or care about rough-surface control should spend more time thinking about range, tires, and chassis setup than about shiny trim labels. The AT4 will make sense for a smaller crowd than GMC hopes. The Elevation is the version that finally gives the Sierra EV a believable argument.
