According to Cars.com’s pricing breakdown, the 2026 Forester Hybrid starts at $34,730 for the Premium, then climbs to $37,930 for the Sport, $38,995 for the Limited, and $41,545 for the Touring. The useful part is that Subaru did not turn the hybrid into some delicate city-special. That is the kind of stuff normal buyers actually notice. If you live somewhere with snow, rough pavement, or the occasional muddy trailhead, standard AWD and decent clearance matter more than another flashy trim badge pretending to be an adventure package.
My money would stay on the Premium or maybe the Sport, because once a compact SUV starts drifting past $40,000, the whole conversation gets annoying fast. The base trim already gives you the hybrid hardware, the big Subaru safety story, and the everyday usefulness people are actually paying for. This is also one of those vehicles where spending ten minutes comparing trims before you sign can matter more than obsessing over a tiny payment difference on the worksheet.
No, the Forester Hybrid is probably not going to win every bench-racing argument against a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid or Honda CR-V Hybrid. But for buyers who want a compact SUV with standard AWD, real cargo room, and a low-drama ownership vibe, Subaru finally has a hybrid that makes practical sense instead of niche sense. And if you keep a crossover long enough to care about tire wear, ride quality, and eventually even complete strut replacements, that simple all-weather formula starts to look pretty smart.
