With Kia Motors announcing their best September ever, with sales last month of over 35,000 units, lots of crossover enthusiasts are looking at a vehicle that made up a huge part of that sales volume. To put Kia’s September numbers in perspective, the Kia Sorento CUV sold over 11,000 units, or nearly one third of the company’s total sales volume. Although other Kia models like the Kia Soul and Kia Forte also sold well, it’s clear that the Sorento is among the most popular offerings from this auto maker. Some of the consumer reporting reviewers who browse new car models are indicating this new Kia is going to go up well against other small SUV models like the Toyota Rav4 and Ford’s extensive line of 4-cylinder and V6 SUVs, as well as crossovers from General Motors, Honda, and all of the other auto makers shipping stateside.
With a price tag just over $20,000, the 2012 Kia Sorento does look competitive in its segment, something auto reviewers including Edmunds are calling a good deal for SUV customers. One of the advantages of this vehicle is optional four-cylinder or V6 power, along with overall good handling and many modern features. The base model comes with entertainment items including iPod input and satellite radio, as well as Bluetooth, while safety for the base Sorento includes side/curtain airbags and stability and traction control. Those who opt for upper 2012 Kia Sorento trims can get items like in-dash navigation, keyless ignition, rear parking sensors and upgraded air conditioning, along with leather wheel and shifter and other conveniences like power seating.
In terms of fuel economy, the 2012 Sorento might not be quite as competitive, with highway mpg maxing out at around 29 miles per gallon. The four cylinder engine gives drivers much better mpg, and it’s the element of choice that keeps many customers interested in this stylish crossover.
As the 2012 Kia Sorento hits dealer’s lots, fans of this Hyundai division are expecting some pretty good deals in terms of incentives and financing offers. Be sure to check the latest offerings from Kia if you are in the market for one of these neat crossovers.
