This is the Carbon Motors E7, and it’s the first of its kind. You see the E7 is the worlds first purpose-built police car. Unlike older police vehicles, which are actually just civilian sedans re-purposed for cop duty, the Carbon Motors E7 was designed from the ground up as a law enforcement tool. This bespoke police vehicle has all the design features that cops have asked for over the years, plus some innovative technology thats never been seen before.

Technically speaking, the E7 is a masterpiece. First off, its performance-oriented spaceframe chassis was developed by Lotus Engineering to withstand the abuse and rigors of police duty. The body panels are lightweight and easy-to-replace, as are front and rear impact push-bars. Also a first is a built-in, body-integrated light setup that Carbon says aids in fuel efficiency as the light units don’t hinder the car’s aerodynamics. Why hasn’t anybody thought of this before?

Though the powertrain supplier has yet to be announced, it’s definitely going to be a diesel, and it’s believed to be BMW’s BluePerformance 3.0-liter twin-turbodiesel inline-six. With almost 300 horsepower and 425 pound-feet of torque being put to the ground via a six-speed auto, the E7 is projected to hit 60 mph in 6.5 seconds and go on to a scant over 150mph!

Still in the development stages, the basic package is already up and running. Carbon Motors calculates that it will cost significantly less to run an E7 than a comparable V8-gas police car.  The company hopes to have them on every police department in three years time. Till then, the bad guys can rest easy knowing than a Civic Si can outrun an average police car…
