General Motors could use some good news right now. The company is facing the most dire time in it’s history and is on the verge of extinction. While some say it’s not that bad, others say that it is that bad.
One of GM’s recent high notes though is it’s recent results in a series of crash test involving it’s newest crossover models. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recently awarded its four crossovers with a Top Safety Pick designation. The GMC Acadia “aced” the institute’s front, side and rear crash tests, IIHS president Adrian Lund said in a statement.
The GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave, Saturn Outlook and new Chevrolet Traverse all share the same hardware under the skin, so all the models got the 2008 designation after testing of the Acadia in front, side and rear crashes. The standard stability control system (GM’s Stabilitrak) was also stated as an important factor in the award as the IIHS doesn’t give out the Top Safety Pick designation without it.
This is the kind of publicity that GM desperately needs right now. It’s not the cheap kinda of publicity either that can be bought or faked. No this time the General has earned it. Through hard work and dedication the folks at GM have delivered a vehicle worthy of the GM badge. Good job guys, you get an A+ !
