It might just be one little bolt, but apparently it’s quite an important little bolt. This little bolt is why Nissan and the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) have issued a recall of 1,018 2008 Altima sedans.
The NHTSA’s recall summary of the problem explains that the left side front suspension transverse link bolt may not have been tightened to specification at the factory. “This condition could cause the bolt to become loose while the vehicle is being driven,” it said. “If the bolt were to come out, the driver may experience difficulty controlling the direction of the vehicle, which could result in a crash.”
Now this is a serious safety concern so Nissan and the NHTSA stress that you must take care of this ASAP! Your local area Nissan dealers will tighten the bolt free of charge, and it only takes a few minutes. Anyone with any further questions can contact Nissan for more information at the number below.
