There’s only 200. That’s the number of Jaguar XKR-S models the company will produce. This newest limited edition Jag will be the first of a few “S” badged version of it’s high performance “R” vehicles.
Though available only in Europe, the 2009 Jaguar XKR-S has many cars beat in the exclusivity department, although at roughly $111,000 it’s no cheap ride. The $18,000 premium over the standard XKR adds a lot of features though. Begining with lightweight forged 20-inch wheels which house upgraded brakes from Alcon inside of them. Suspension tweaks and unique exterior styling are also applied to the new super Jag and interior upgrades borrowed from the earlier Portfolio edition with soft-grain leather round out the stellar package. A Bowers & Wilkins stereo provides the tunes when your not listening to that glorious 4.2-liter Supercharged V8.
While not upgraded in any way, Jaguar’s Supercharged V8 is a potent performer already. 420 horses are corralled under that long and sexy hood. The company says the XKR-S is capable of zero to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds, while the car’s top speed has been raised from the electronically limited 155 mph to a more lofty speed of about 175 mph.
The words “Limited Edition” and “Special” get thrown around a whole bunch in the automotive world, but this is different. The Jaguar XKR-S really is special. Heck, only 200 will be made. Sure you can buy all the upgrades and put them on your standard XK-R, but you can’t buy exclusivity.
