Toyota Motor Co. announced recently that they plan to unveil two new hybrid models in the new future. The company is also promising to start lithium ion battery production soon, probably sometime next year. This is a major punch from Toyota and it should be felt throughout the entire auto industry. The company means buisness and wants hybrids to be a major part of what Toyota sells in the near future.
The two new models will be released through two brands. One will be badged a Toyota, but the other will come in the form of a Lexus vehicle. They will both debut at the Detroit Auto Show, as well as the newest version of the Prius.
Not much is known at the moment about the technical specs. I believe that it will come to Toyota in the form of a family vehicle, and to Lexus maybe in a upscale crossover. We’ll just have to wait for Detroit to find out.
