If this is not a sign of the times, I don’t know what is. General Motors is considering selling off it’s highly successful Hummer brand. Rising fuel prices that won’t come down again and the ever changing trends of buyers opting for smaller more fuel efficient cars is partly to blame.
This is a matter of business though. Even though GM has highly profited from selling Hummers, it is coming to realize that even a successful Hummer is a Hummer. Outside of spending big bucks equipping it’s models with new powertrains, there isn’t really much they can do.
People aren’t going to buy a car that is going to impact them financially, and so directly. The poor Hummer will probably go down in history as merely a fad of the times.
