When I first saw this car I thought, “Wow, I would actually work harder to own this one.” That’s because even though I can’t afford to drive (let alone own) a new Audi S5, it’s the car I’d pick if I was in the market for some German hardware. Just look at it. From the LED strips that adorn the headlights to it’s beautiful profile shape, the new S5 clearly ticks all the right boxes for an uber-coupe.
Audi’s are known for their expertly crafted interiors and this one is no different. The minute you step foot inside you know this is a high quality piece of kit. Every button feels tactile in its operation and the whole dash feels solid, as if carved from a large block of something substantial. Close the doors and a bank vault comes to mind. Sit in it’s expertly crafted seats and feel the ergonomic expertise of the boys in Ingolstadt. Like I said before, quality.
Then there is the powertrain. Oh dear lord, this has to be the smoothest V8 ever. 355hp drives the point home too. What’s that? It’s mated to a 6-speed manual? As in with a clutch pedal? And it’s Quattro!? Have the guys in Germany been peering into my dreams or something? This is too good to be true. So what’s the catch?
Oh, the price. Like I said before, here is where my dream turns into a nightmare. Are you ready? $62,000 is what it’s gonna take to play this game. Hey, 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds does not come cheap. Especially when it’s wrapped in a tailor made Audi aluminum suit. But if I had the money, I would not hesitate. Such is the impulses of love at first sight…
All Above: Isn’t she beautiful? Yup, I’m in love….
