Nissan has been doing very well the past couple of years. The company is on the cusp of a great sales year and it’s updated lineup has been very popular with the American buying public. One of their best sellers has been their top-of-the-line Maxima sedan.
Though it used to share a lot with it’s lowly Altima sibling, the all new 2009 Maxima has finally come into it’s own. The styling has been upgraded, and I for one, love it. Also, the V6 powertrain has gotten a healthy 35hp boost. Peak power figures now hover around the 290hp mark and so equipped, the Maxima will rip to 60mph in a hair over 6 seconds. Impressive numbers for a 3,600 pound, front-wheel drive sedan.
But where the difference really is felt is in the interior. Take a look for yourself in the photos below, this is finally a worthy car to sit inside. Gone are the cheesy plastics and orange-glow dash lighting. Now everything is understated, more Infinity than Nissan. While once again we get the usual all encompassing blackness that is a Nissan interior, this time it is well executed and just plain works.
Will this be the sedan that Maxima fans have known the company was always capable of producing? I think so, and in fact, I think it will give people a different perspective on the Nissan brand. The new Maxima sedan will be the guiding light in this wave of change. Can’t wait to see what they do with the next Z!
